The Submarine Experience

Since autumn 2021, you can dive into the depths of various Swiss lakes all year round with Subspirit. The underwater world has always captured the human imagination. Wrecks of sunken ships, aeroplanes and cars hold a particular fascination for us. They often lie at virtually unreachable depths and, in most cases, very little is known about them.

Glide silently as far as 100 metres down into the darkness, accompanied by experienced pilots. On this one-hour dive, you’ll get to enjoy the feeling of weightlessness and experience moments of suspense as you see a range of exciting sights right up close. And if you’re a bit of a techie, the submarine’s many reliable displays, valves and instruments that tell us about depth, pressure and temperature are a fascinating attraction in themselves.

Join us on an underwater dive and enjoy an experience like no other.

A magical underwater adventure

We are crossing into unfamiliar territory at 30 m per minute. After just a few moments, we are enveloped by a dense layer of fog, the thermocline. The echo sounder system and the digital display tell us that we have reached a depth of 68 m. The submarine’s instruments show us our destination with great accuracy. The electric motors hum quietly. We peer eagerly into the gloom, which is pierced by the light of our headlamps. Complete silence. The tension builds. Now, 102 m down in the crystal-clear water, we can see the long-sought wreck with our own eyes. Unlike Jules Verne’s stories with the fictional Nautilus, our P-63 submarine offers a real-life experience that you won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

The boat is a 47-metre-long motor launch and lies at a depth of almost 80 metres. The wood/steel construction has been very well preserved over the years. Many details such as the wooden steering wheel or the coat of arms at the stern are clearly recognisable.

Vitzanove

Vitzanove

The Vitzanove is a passenger ship that sank 180 metres at Vitznau on 26 December 1999 during storm Lothar. Since then, the 60-passenger boat has been lying at an angle on the slope in eternal darkness at a depth of around 94 metres. The two men on board, including the owner, were able to save themselves in the 5-degree water on the shore after the boat sprung a leak. The ship is very well preserved and the door to the driver's cabin is wide open, allowing a view inside.

Concrete mixer Rütenen

Concrete mixer Rütenen

What began 40 years ago with a mishap, we can now dive to two different depths. In 1970, the two Volvo trucks fell from a transport rope when the concrete mixer was turned on and the rope started to rock. Both trucks tipped into the lake and disappeared into the depths. They are located at a depth of 98 and approx. 130 meters.

Duration: 60 min.
Cost: CHF 690.-

C-35

C-35

In 1941, a Swiss Air Force biplane crashed into the lake near Gersau during a training flight. The pilot lost his life in the accident, the gunner was able to save himself with a parachute and was rescued. The well-preserved wreck lies at a depth of around 200 metres. The machine gun, the cockpit where you can still see the control stick and the impressive wings are clearly recognisable. Pure excitement where you can experience a relic from times gone by up close.
